Deutsche Bank Tips: Justin Thomas
Putting can be streaky but nothing wrong tee-to-green. Recovered from a poor start to finish T16 last week.
After a slow start Justin Thomas improved with every round at the Barclays to finish T16. It wasn’t enough to win any money but sufficient to tempt me in again.
The danger with Thomas is his putting can be erratic, as was the case at the Barclays. He ranked seventh in strokes gained tee-to-green but 64th in putting.
I’m afraid we are going to have to live with frustrations on the green but at 80/1 his quality ball-striking should give us a run for our money.
Thomas has finished in the top-20 in four of his last five starts and his game should be suited to TPC Boston.
He’s got the required length off the tee and plays par 5s particularly well; he is second in par 5 scoring average on tour.
At 80/1 (Skybet) he is a good each-way bet with ¼ odds for a top-5 finish.
