Dell Technologies Championship Tip: Jordan Spieth
Has struggled on the greens this season but there has been a marked improvement in his putting of late. Finished second here last year and can go one better.
It’s not been a terrible year for Jordan Spieth but by his absurdly high standards he wouldn’t want to go through it winless. The problem for the 25-year-old has been his putting.
Strokes Gained Putting Rank By Season:
2018: 127
2017: 42
2016: 2
2015: 9
2014: 20
2013: 60
Regards the rest of the games there aren’t too many problems; Spieth ranks 25th for strokes gained tee-to-green and 18th in scoring average. The good news is that in recent weeks the former world number 1 seems to have turned the corner.
For the last five tournaments where the PGA Tour keeps a record, Spieth has gained strokes on the field putting and I get the impression the confidence is returning. His third round 64 at the Northern Trust Open reminded us of what he’s capable of and having finished runner-up here last year he can go one better.
