Crowne Plaza Colonial Tips: Zach Johnson

Set a record low score when winning in 2010. Arrives in great form having finished runner-up in two of his last three starts.

Zach Johnson isn’t the most imaginative tip to win at Colonial but with so much in his favour he looks good value at 16/1 with Ladbrokes.

His record at the course in his last five visits is: T26-T30-T9-1-4.

The win in 2010 set a new tournament low of 21-under, an impressive record considering the PGA Tour has been coming to Colonial since 1946.

The world number 27 arrives in Texas at the top of his game. He has finished second in two of his last three starts, the one blip being a T69 at Quail Hollow, a course which is simply too long for him.

In a tournament that relies on putting rather than brute strength I can’t leave Zach Johnson out of the staking plan at 16/1 (Ladbrokes) with ¼ odds for a top-5 finish.
