Crowne Plaza Colonial Tips: Bo Van Pelt

Two top-10s in his last two visits to Colonial and ranks second for putting on tour.

Hampered with a wrist injury at the start of the month, it was good to see Bo Van Pelt return to form and fitness with a T7 at The Players. Before the injury, the 36-year-old had been enjoying one of his best seasons to date with four top-10 finishes from his first 8 starts.

The return to fitness has come just in time, as Colonial is a tournament where I always planned to back Bo Van Pelt. Having finished third last year, building on a T10 in 2010, the track plays to his strengths. He has broken 70 in his last 11 rounds at the course.

Van Pelt ranks 2nd for strokes gained putting, 8th for birdie average and 29th for scoring average, all key trends when looking at past winners.

At 28/1 (Paddy Power) back Van Pelt each way with ¼ odds for a top-5 finish.
