Bogota Championship Tip: Taylor Pendrith

After a run of wind-swept technical layouts here is a golf course where the big hitters rise to the top. Pendrith finished T4 here in 2016 and was going well until the weekend in Panama.

I got a massive scare last week when I saw Taylor Pendrith atop the leaderboard at the Panama Championship. I let him go unbacked at a venue I didn’t think would suit him; thankfully he fell back over the weekend but the bookmakers haven’t overreacted.

I’m a massive fan of Pendrith and I expect him to progress to the PGA Tour eventually; that will almost certainly require a win on the Korn Ferry Tour and the Country Club de Bogota is a good fit. Past leaderboards are littered with big hitters like Kevin Dougherty, Sam Burns, Tom Lovelady, Trey Mullinax and Tyler McCumber not to mention Pendirth himself who finished fourth here in 2016.

The Korn Ferry Tour has started with lots of fiddly, technical courses and Pendrith has made the cut in all of them. There aren’t many bigger hitters than the Candian and he could take these courses apart. A nice little bonus is that he finished 2019 with a T9 at the Open de Argentina, and back in South America he must be backed.
