Bogota Championship: Charlie Saxon

Started season well with finishes of T32-T33 on courses that wouldn't have suited. Most exciting talent on tour; won four times last season and has tasted victory on the LatinoAmerica Tour.

The Bogota Championship (formerly Colombia Championship) represent the first Thursday to Sunday event on the Web.com Tour this season and there is further familiarity with The Country Club of Bogotá hosting. The slight change from last year is that the event will utilise two courses with the seemingly minuscule 6,202-yard par 70 course added to the rotation.

It’s hard to know how this will effect the event but I suspect some big hitters will feature prominently on the leaderboard as the likes of Kevin Dougherty, Sam Burns, Tom Lovelady, Trey Mullinax and Taylor Pendrith have cracked the top-10 in the past three renewals and not many people hit it past this quintet.

Charlie Saxon falls into this category and he is probably the most exciting young talent on the Web.com Tour this season. The 25-year-old missed out on winning the PGA Tour China order of merit by a few dollars but thta has kindly kept him out the spot light from a betting perspective. All you need to know is this guy is the real deal.

In 66 professionals tarts he has seven wins, including four last year. He started the season with finishes of T32-T33 in the Bahamas which is very respectable in too funky events that are often shaped by strong winds.

The test this week should be more to his liking and he has experience of playing in South America before. He won in Peru in 2017 and has five top-10s in just 15 starts on the LatinoAmerica Tour. At 125/1 he is a cracking bet with Paddy Power paying 6 places at 1/5 odds.
