Canadian Open Tips: Will Claxton

Finished T5 last weekend after hitting 80.6% of GIRs. Ranks T12 on tour for ball striking.

Another tour rookie enjoying a fine season is Will Claxton. The 30-year-old sits 92nd in the FedEx Cup and has six top-25 finishes this year - testimony to his consistency.

Last weekend at the True South Classic, he picked up the biggest cheque of his career with a T5 finish. His success was largely down to his approach play, after finishing T4 for GIRs.

Ranked 12th on tour for ball striking, Claxton’s game is all about finding fairways and greens, exactly what is needed at Hamilton Golf & Country Club. Although this will be his first tournament at the venue, the Canadian Open hasn’t been played at Hamilton since 2006, so he shouldn’t be disadvantaged by a lack of course knowledge.

At 125/1 (Skybet), he has the attributes to perform better than his price suggests. Back him each-way and get ¼ odds for a top-5 finish.
