Canadian Open Tips: Roberto Castro

Finished top-20 in his last two tournaments and the ideal course for a player ranked ninth on tour for ball striking.

Tour rookie Roberto Castro is getting ever closer to his first victory and it is prudent to take the 100/1 (Betfred) before those prices are gone forever.

Two starts ago he finished a fine T7 at the Greenbrier Classic, closing with a season’s best round of 63. If it wasn’t for a disappointing Saturday, it was a tournament he could have won.

Last week he continued his good form with a T18 at the True South Classic; it could have been even better if he hadn’t fallen foul of the weather delay in his second round.

Ranked 15th for GIRs, 10th for total driving and 9th for ball striking, Hamilton Golf & Country Club is the perfect course for his game. If he can keep holing putts, he should be a lively contender at generous odds of 100/1 with Betfred. Back him each-way with 1/4 odds for a top-5 finish.
