Age: 30
World Ranking: 11
Best result in Open: Champion - 2010

Open Record:

A prime example that you can’t rule a player out just because of a previously woeful Open record. The South African had missed three cuts in three appearances before he stormed to an astounding seven-shot victory at the 2010 Championship. Oosthuizen took St Andrews by the scruff of the neck shooting 65-67-69-71 to leave the field trailing in his wake. He was T19 last year.

Form:

There’s a reason why quite a recent Open champion who is ranked just outside the top-10 in the world is priced at long odds - and that’s form. The 30-year-old can only claim one top-ten finish from 11 PGA Tour events in 2013 and the majors have been pretty disastrous. Oosthuizen missed the cut at Augusta before withdrawing after one round at the US Open. He also missed the cut just last week at the John Deere Classic.

Verdict:

Based on form he will do well to make the weekend but then again you should never rule out class. He only lost the Masters in a play-off last year which showed his Open victory was no fluke. The South Africans have enjoyed plenty of major success, particularly in this tournament recently, so the top-ranked player from that nation should be respected.
