British Open Tips Angel Cabrera

Cabrera is a great price

In form on the links at the Scottish Open. The two-time major winner is generously priced.

Punters will be seeing plenty of justifiable hype surrounding the top European players this week and the US contingent always gets its fair share of publicity. Choi, Day and Schwartzel are other names getting talked about but perhaps Argentine Angel Cabrera is the forgotten man heading into the 140th Open Championship.

Of all the names touted above the 41-year-old in the betting, only Harrington and Mickelson have won more major titles - and it would count as a surprise if either of them triumphed in Kent. But Cabrera travels to England in a rich vein of form following a T3 finish in the Scottish Open at Castle Stuart; closing rounds of 64 and 67 show that the big man is in good touch on the links.

The bookies can often forget about the man who has won 28 of his 46 professional wins on the Argentine Tour. At 75/1 with bet365 we see the value of betting on a player who continues to slip under the media radar.

Cabrera won the 2007 US Open and followed that up with the US Masters title in 2009. He returned to the leaderboard at Augusta again in April, finishing seventh after beginning the final round in the last pairing with McIlroy. The man affectionately known as ‘The Duck’ has had two top-10 finishes in the British Open already and finished T22 at St George’s in 2003.

A man of great pedigree, on good form, represents a great value each-way bet at 75/1 with bet365.
