Breakthrough Waiting to Happen for Castro
Getting ever closer to his maiden tour win. Finished 2013 with four top-10s and T16 on his Phoenix Open debut last year.
Having followed Roberto Castro’s career since he made his debut on tour in 2012, I am convinced he is a winner in waiting.
The 28-year-old ranked in the adjusted scoring top-50 for the last two years and he is starting to compete in the higher echelons of the leaderboard on a more regular basis.
Last season he registered four top-ten finishes, all of them in the second half of the year and they came in high quality tournaments like the AT&T National, the Deutsche Bank and Tour Championship.
Castro hasn’t quite ignited in the early part of 2014 but he closed with encouraging rounds of 66-64 in the Humana Challenge before missing the cut at Torrey Pines, a course that was probably too long for him.
On his first visit the TPC Scottsdale he finished T16, shooting opening rounds of 65-68. He returns 12-months later a much better player and must be backed each-way at 125/1 (Ladbrokes).
