Glory McIlroy

Glory McIlroy

Once he hits form, he is relentless and looks like repeating the purple patches he enjoyed in 2014 and 2012.

Backing Rory McIlroy to defend his title at Wentworth isn’t the most imaginative selection but there is a subtlety to his game that is worth exploiting – he’s streaky.

It seems a bit harsh to describe the world’s number one golfer as ‘streaky’ but I mean that in a positive sense. He is rhythm golfer and when he hits form, he is virtually unbeatable.

Last season he won three big tournaments in a row, starting with the Open Championship and closing with the PGA Championship.

It was a similar story in 2012, he won the PGA Championship and then soon after he won twice in the Playoffs.

He was a seven shot winner at the Wells Fargo last week, which included a mesmeric third-round 61. The field at the PGA Championship is no stronger and he should win at 11/4 (Skybet)
