BMW PGA Championship: Gavin Green

2/2 in cuts made at Wentworth although yet to trouble the scorers. On worst side of draw at Scottish Open but managed respectable T42. Ranks well for driving accuracy and statically a good fit.

Gavin Green has finished tailed off in two visits to Wentworth (T52-T72) but he’s made the weekend both times and that course experience could be invaluable as the West takes some understanding.

Last week he was rather undone by the draw in Scotland, his early/late tee start meant he got the worst of the weather and a T42 finish isn’t too bad under the circumstances. Couple that with two top-15 finishes at Celtic Manor and there’s plenty of reasons for optimism.

Statistically Green is a good fit. His profile might seem like a modern big-hitter but he’s ranked 7th on tour for driving accuracy (26th in 2019) and is 9th for GIRs (30th in 2019). That is what you need to succeed at Wentworth and having paid his dues, now is the time for a good finish.
