BMW Charity Pro-Am: Albin Choi

BMW Charity Pro-Am: Albin Choi

Finished T10 last week, his first cut of the season. Won twice on the PGA Tour Canada and has played this event twice before.

This week’s selections have a PGA Tour Canada flavour and our final tip also made his name north of the border. Albin Choi finished sixth on the Order of Merit last season missing out on a Web.com Tour card by one position but he made up for that disappointment by finishing T14 at Q-School and earning his playing privileges.

Unfortunately 2016 has not gone to plan. Choi withdrew twice and missed a further five cuts until something clicked at the Rex Hospital Open last week. For the first time all season he made the weekend and he went on to finish an encouraging T10.

I don’t know what precipitated his loss of form earlier, withdrawals suggest some sort of physical ailment, but hopefully he has now turned the corner. It’s worth noting the 24-year-old was a talented amateur and won the Canadian Amateur Championship in 2010.

Choi travels to Thornblade GC for his third crack at the BMW Charity Pro-Am and he returns in high spirits.

His record in the event is T50-MC but he made 15 birdies last year and only missed the cut by three strokes. If he can limit the mistakes then there is a chance he goes better than odds of 300/1 (Skybet) suggest.
