Alfred Dunhill Links Championship Tip: Ashley Chesters

Made his mark when T14 at the 2015 Open and goes well on the links. Arrives in good form after a string of top-30 finishes and could go very well if the putter heats up.

Those at the top of the market for the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship might be nursing Ryder Cup hangovers of the literal and metaphorical variety but there is plenty of value to be had further down the market. Callum Shinkwin and Austin Connelly were both on a short-list with other big price golfers with links form but Ashley Chesters is the one that jumped out.

In 2015 he sprung to prominence as an amateur with a T14 at the Open at St. Andrews, a course he will hopefully play twice this week. It’s been a long journey since then but the Englishman is enjoying his best year on tour and arrives in good form after finishes of 29-59-9-MC-28-16.

Terrific tee-to-green, Chesters ranks in the top-30 for driving accuracy and GIRs but struggles on the greens. He will need to hole his fair share this week but links golf brings out the best in him (he finished T14 at the Irish Open)  and at 140/1 is a good bet.
