Albertsons Boise Open Tip: Sam Saunders
Carries good form into the Final Series with four top-25s in last six starts. Is 3/4 in cuts made at Hillcrest CC and 18th on tour for birdie average.
Sam Saunders frustratingly finished 129th on the PGA Tour money list which means he’s had to drop into the Web.com Tour Finals to regain his card. A tough break on face value but it’s not hindered Saunders who has been playing his best golf in the last couple of months.
On his last five PGA Tour starts he finished 25-55-19-8-37 and a fortnight ago finished T11 at the Nationwide Children’s Hospital Championship. The 30-year-old is clearly in good form and the Web.com Tour isn’t unfamiliar territory.
His record at Hillcrest Country Club is 43-32-MC-48, not spectacular by any means but the experience is invaluable. Ranked 16th on the PGA Tour for birdie average he has the ability to go deep into the red at a traditionally low scoring event and he is one of the more likely winners.
