Wichita Open Tip: JT Griffin
Sits 11th in the all-around ranking and likely would have finished highest than T24 at the BMW Pro-Am but for the weather. Hit every fairway and green during round two.
J.T. Griffin didn’t make the cut when I tipped him for a poignant win at the REX Hospital Open but he wasn’t far away from making the weekend, finishing two under for 36 holes. He bounced back quickly with a T24 at the BMW Charity Pro-Am and was making a run through the weekend which was ultimately curtailed by the weather.
Two bogeys in 54-holes was evidence of a golfer in control of his game and he hit every fairway and every green during his second round at The Cliffs Valley course. Granted it wasn’t the toughest test on tour but you cannot bludgeon you way around Crestview Country Club, despite it’s modest yardage.
Despite limited starts Griffin has shown enough to suggest he has the all round game (ranked 11th) to thrive at somewhere like Crestview. The cherry one the cake - he’s 250/1.
