Kate’s Wedding Dress Train

wedding dress train

The fashionistas will have their eyes glued to the dress but the length of train is quite easy to estimate.

Not something managed by Network Rail, Kate Middleton’s train is actually attached to her wedding dress. For the layman, that is the bit of cloth that drapes behind the bride.

Bookmaker Stan James have come up with a simple betting market regarding its length. They are going 5/6 over and 5/6 under three metres. Perhaps the trader pricing the market isn’t an expert in the area; as on past history three metres is on the short side.

When it comes to royal wedding dresses, Princess Diana’s is the most iconic. Her Emanuel designed gown had a 7.62 metre train, one of the longest in royal history. Sarah Ferguson wasn’t far behind with her satin dress weighing in with a 5.18m train.

Although impractical for most ceremonies, anyone can go into a bridal chamber and ask for a dress with a royal train. On average, these are 3.7 metres.

It is very likely that Kate will bow to tradition and carry a sizeable train, well in excess of three metres. She should count herself lucky that she isn’t attempting to break the world record. That stands at an almost absurd 2km long - not an easy dress to dance in.
