Eurovision Tips: Finland

Finland’s answer to Busted have the catchy hooks that can win them plenty of votes.

The Eurovision Song Contest might be regarding as a bit of a joke but making money is no laughing matter. Having picked two of the last three winners, it’s actually one of my favourite betting events of the year!

There are two main factors you need to succeed: a good song and a late position in the running order. With 26 acts to wade through those at the start of the show are forgotten by the time voting starts.

Nicely berthed in slot 18, Finland could be this year’s surprise winners.

Softengine are a teenage rock band who deal in catchy melodies; musically they sit somewhere between 30 Seconds To Mars and Busted. They aren’t going to win an Ivor Novello Award but hey – who cares when they are 100/1.

The usual political voting shouldn’t harm Finland’s chances. They are guaranteed points from their Scandinavian neighbours and as a nation they’ve done nothing to offend the rest of Europe.

At 100/1 (Boylesports) they are a cracking each-way bet with 1/5 odds for a top-4 finish.
