Rosberg Storms to First Victory

Rosberg was pointless before Sunday's win.

Mercedes have emulated McLaren and Ferrari by becoming the third different winner in a wide-open F1 season.

Mercedes won their first race since 1955 as Nico Rosberg led from start to finish to claim the Chinese Grand Prix. It was a maiden victory for the young German who quickly shot into a best price of 16/1 (Betfred) for the Drivers’ Championship in his fast improving car.

The new F1 season continues to be full of surprises with three different teams winning the first three meets of the campaign. Unusually, Lewis Hamilton leads the way in the standings despite the fact he is yet to finish inside the top two in any race - he is 2/1 favourite to be champion with Bluesquare after another podium.

His McLaren team-mate Jenson Button (9/4 Totesport)  is hot on his heels, two points back after coming home second in Shanghai.

Ominously, the Red Bulls are far from out of contention despite their mediocre start, although they will need to find some extra pace from somewhere and soon. Sebastian Vettel maintains the respect of a double world champion at 6/1 (Boylesports) despite languishing 17 points off the pace in fifth spot.

Mark Webber is faring slightly better with eight points more, yet he is available at 20/1 with Sportingbet.
