Monaco GP Preview

It is the glitz and the glamour of the Monaco GP this weekend. We examine some betting angles for the race.

Monte Carlo is the jewel in the crown of the F1 season. The Monaco Grand Prix is the race all the drivers want to win but whose luck is in?

Value of pole position
The pole-sitter has won 4 of the last 4 Monaco GPs, helped by the fact it is almost impossible to overtake on the circuit. Pole position wins more than twice as often compared to the season’s average.

Driver to watch
Monaco is such an idiosyncratic circuit that it generates numerous repeat winners - Ayrton Senna won the race a record six times. Fellow Brazilian Felipe Massa has also developed a good rapport with the track.  Apart from retirement in 2011, he has finished no worse than sixth in his last six visits to the principality.
Felipe Massa top-6 finish 8/11 (BetVictor)

Retirement Rate – Above Average
The Monaco GP has an above average rate of retirements, with any small mistake punished by a visit to the barriers.
Under 16.5 classified drivers 11/10 (William Hill)
