Korean GP Tips: Kimi Raikkonen

One of the most consistent drivers all season; has finished in the top-6 in his last 8 races.

Eight months into the F1 season it’s reasonable to start drawing some conclusions. The most consistent drivers are at the top of the standings and luck should have evened itself out. Therefore it is strange the bookmakers still have a blind spot for the Lotus team.

Number of top-6 finishes in 2012 (odds for top-6 in Korea)

12 Sebastian Vettel (2/7 BetVictor)
11 Fernando Alonso (4/11 Ladbrokes)
11 Kimi Raikkonen (8/11 Ladbrokes)
8 Mark Webber (2/5 Bet365)
8 Lewis Hamilton (4/9 Paddy Power)
6 Jenson Button (4/9 Stan James)
6 Romain Grosjean (21/10 Paddy Power)
6 Felipe Massa (13/8 Ladbrokes)
6 Nico Rosberg (10/3 BetVicor)
4 Kamui Kobayashi (2/1 Bet365)
4 Sergio Perez (21/10 Paddy Power)

Kimi Raikkonen has been one of the most consistent performers yet lies sixth in the betting. The Lotus might not have the qualifying pace of the Red Bull or McLaren but they are always competitive on race day. The car has also been extremely reliable, apart from when Romain Grosjean decides to crash it.

There has been no marked drop off in form, with Raikkonen finishing in the top-6 in his last 8 races. I can’t see why the trend won’t continue, therefore 8/11 (Ladbrokes) on Raikkonen finishing in the top-6 must rate a value bet.
