Japanese GP Tips: Romain Grosjean

Twice the price of his teammate in the ‘without Vettel’ market but was quicker than Raikkonen in Korea last weekend.

Romain Grosjean’s third place in Korea equalled his highest finish of the year but his performance deserved even more. Analysis of his lap times shows he was quicker than his teammate in each stint of the race.

The Frenchman was less the a second behind Kimi Raikkonen at the chequered flag but a mammoth 19 seconds ahead of Nico Hulkenburg in fourth.

With Sebastian Vettel impossible to oppose despite his price, the value is found in the ‘without Vettel’ betting market.

Romain Grosjean is 8/1 (Ladbrokes) to win the Japanese GP without Vettel but he rates a good each-way bet with 1/5 odds for a top-3 finish.

If we assume Vettel is guaranteed to finish in the top-3 that means a fourth place finish for Grosjean would be enough for us to turn a profit on the bet.
