Button over the Moon at McLaren

Button is having a good season

Jenson Button is loving life at McLaren. He's signed a new contract to end speculation about his future.

Jenson Button has committed his long term future to McLaren by signing a new ‘multi-year contract’ with the Woking-based team. The 2009 world champion, now second in this year’s standings, was reportedly attracting interest from rival teams, such as Ferrari.

‘I’ve never felt more at home at a team’, said the former Brawn star. ‘I’ve won four of the greatest races of my life here,’ he added.

Although Sebastian Vettel has stormed ahead this season, Button has every chance of finishing best of the rest. With 185 points, Button is just ahead of Spain’s Fernando Alonso (184) and Australian Mark Webber (182). Lewis Hamilton is currently losing the team and British bragging rights - he’s back in fifth spot with 168 points.

With five races remaining Button is 2/1 to win the ‘without Vettel’ market, according to SkyBet. The 31-year-old is only fourth favourite for next year’s title however; Bet365 offer best odds at 9/1.
