Button Fires Opening Salvo

The new F1 season is go, go, go.

The McLarens were split by Vettel on Race Day 1 in Melbourne

Jenson Button watched his team-mate take all the plaudits in qualifying before doing the business when it mattered most by winning the opening Grand Prix of the season in Australia. The 2009 champion is 5/2 (Betfred) for the title after pinching the lead into turn one and staying there throughout.

Sebastian Vettel showed it was far too early to doubt his credentials as the Red Bull showed decent race speed after disappointing in the earlier part of the weekend. The defending champion has been re-installed as favourite for the title at best odds of 11/5 (PaddyPower).

Hamilton, who was unfortunate to finish third behind the German after an incident with the safety car, is 7/2 with Sportingbet at this early stage.
