Test Match Dampener

England are still batting

The rain has ruined the first Test of the summer.

England’s batting practice continues between rain showers as the first Test meanders towards an inevitable draw on the final day. The hosts are currently stranded on 491-5, unable to get enough pitch time to set Sri Lanka a testing spell in their second innings. Bet365 offer 25/1 on an England victory but StanJames’s best price of 1/50 on the draw tells its own story.

It’s a shame for the Cardiff crowds who have at least witnessed a sparking double century from Jonathan Trott, with Alastair Cook amassing 133. Ian Bell is currently the most frustrated man in the ground, poised as he is on 98 not out.
