Olympic Men’s Individual Time Trial: Luis León Sánchez

The television coverage of the men’s road race was difficult to follow but the post race results show we were quite close to landing our Luis Leon Sanchez tip. Having got himself in the breakaway with two Spanish teammates, they were strangely passive in the final kilometres, throwing away a good medal opportunity.
In today’s individual time trial it is every man for himself and this might favour Luis Leon Sanchez. He is Spain’s national time trial champion, a title he has held for the past two years. More impressively he finished third in the final time trial at the Tour de France proving his calibre amongst top opposition.
Bradley Wiggins is the worthy favourite but having buried himself in the Tour and the recent road race it is questionable whether he has anything left in reserve. Tony Martin and Fabian Cancellara follow in the betting but both are opposable after recent injuries.
At 66/1 (Paddy Power) it is worth having a speculative each-way bet on Luis Leon Sanchez, with 1/5 odds for a top-3 finish, a repeat of his Tour heroics would pay handsomely.
