Monaco GP Tip: Pole Position Win

Pole position is still a big advantage this season, nowhere more than at Monaco.

Fast degrading tyres have made this F1 season a lottery as far as betting is concerned. Five different winners in five races is great entertainment but predicting the winner has become an almost impossible task.

Under these circumstances backing the long priced outsiders isn’t a bad strategy. Foreseeing the unexpected would have been rewarded with a 500/1 winner in Spain.

The one thing that hasn’t changed in this crazy season is the value of pole position. Amazingly, the last three pole-sitters have all won, that includes the surprise wins for Rosberg and Maldonado.

A clear track and most especially the clean air offers a big advantage to the man at the front and nowhere is that more apparent than at Monaco. Four of the last five winners have started from pole; at a track where it is almost impossible to overtake, the pole-sitter holds all the aces.

Rather than try predicting the winner, we are best advised to back the pole-sitter to win the race at 5/4 (Blue Square).
