Ashes Top Bowler Tips: Mitchell Johnson

Averages 4.75 wickets per match in Australia and a dangerous bowler in familiar conditions.

The Ashes top bowler market looks wrong in several places and we can take advantage of the apparent bias.

James Anderson and Stuart Broad head the market but their record in the southern hemisphere is well below their career average.

Ryan Harris took 24 wickets in England this summer despite playing only four Tests but the fact he is so injury prone is a worry in back-to-back Ashes series. He won’t find wickets as easy to come by on more batsman-friendly wickets and at 11/2 he is swerved.

Next on the list is the much criticised Mitchell Johnson. His reputation has taken a big hit in the UK after some woeful performances but the left-armer is still a threat on home soil.

Johnson averages 4.75 wickets per match in Australia an improvement on his career average of 4.02 and better than any player on either side with the exception of Chris Tremlett.

With the Surrey quick not a guaranteed starter, Mitchell Johnson could surprise the Barmy Army and be the leading wicket taker in the series at 13/2 (Bet365).
