Djokovic v Del Potro Tip

Break points will surely be at a premium in this last four clash.

In the first men’s semi-final two of the game’s most feared servers go head-to-head and I wouldn’t be surprised to see at least a couple of tie-breaks in the match at best odds of 9/2 with WilliamHill.

I was tempted just to take underdog Del Potro simply to win a set at best odds of evens (WilliamHill). The former US Open champion won against Djokovic on these same grass courts at the Olympics last summer and he also won the pair’s last meeting earlier this year at Indian Wells.

But those results don’t change the fact that the world number one leads 8-3 overall and has dominated the Grand Slam clashes they have played.

Instead I’ll focus on just how tough service should be to break in this match on both sides of the net. The Argentinian has held 97% of his service games so far with the Serb not far behind on 95%.

There has been a tie-break in each of the last four Del Potro matches and in three of Djokovic’s last four. Both players have won them all. At pretty big odds it’s not hard to envisage at least two sets going the distance in this semi-final.
