Murray Crashes out of Masters

Andy Murray has been dumped out of the Paribas Open in Indian Wells by a qualifier. A Grand Slam title is currently looking a long way off.

Andy Murray is without a singles victory since the Australian Open in January after crashing out of the BNP Paribas Open at Indian Wells to a US qualifier. The British number one lost in straight sets 7-6 (7-4) 6-3 to Donald Young, ranked number 143 in the world. The setback follows on the heels of a first round defeat in Rotterdam last month amid speculation that Murray is being hampered by a knee problem.

The signs are ominous for the Scot who suffered a similar slump in form this time last year, again following on from an appearance in the final of the Australian Open. Coral are offering 12/5 on Murray ending his Grand Slam drought in 2011, but tellingly, another barren year is priced at just 3/10.
