Market Shake Up After Serena’s Exit

Maria Sharapova is the new favourite for the French Open after Serena Williams’s shock defeat.

In one of the biggest shocks in over a decade, tournament favourite Serena Williams crashed out of the French Open in the first round having been matched at 1.01 in-running. Seemingly in control of the match, Williams lost a second set tie-break that sent her into a tailspin.

A dramatic final set eventually went the way of Virginie Razzano, sealing the biggest win of her career on her eighth match point, to win 4-6 7-6 (7-5) 6-3.

Maria Sharapova is the new favourite for the women’s French Open at 27/10 with Sportingbet. Victoria Azarenka who surivived a first-round scare of her own is next in the betting at 10/3 with Paddy Power.
