Nothing Zany About 350/1 Alessandro Zanni

Averaged 4.8m per carry, 3 clean line breaks and 1 try last season. One more might be enough to win some place money.

In a similar vein to Louis Picamoles I am going for a big price forward in the hope he scores a couple of tries and we sneak some place money.

Alessandro Zanni has been a stalwart of the Italian team since 2005 but the flanker is often under appreciated with Sergio Parrise usually grabbing the headlines. Looking at last year’s Six Nations there is little to separate the players.

Alessandro Zanni was one of just a smattering of forwards who registered more than one clean line break during the 2013 tournament.

The 29-year-old carried 50 times for a total of 241 metres, with three clean line breaks, almost identical numbers to Parisse.

These inroads make him an attacking threat and it doesn’t require a huge leap of faith for him to double last season’s tally of tries.

It might seem a crazy price but Alessandro Zanni is a lively outsider in the top tryscorer market at 325/1 (Paddy Power). Back him each-way and get ¼ odds for a top-4 finish.
