Six Nations Tips: Ireland to beat England

Bookmakers have got carried away with England’s last win. Ireland should not be underestimated.

Three weeks ago England were 8/5 to beat Wales at Twickenham - a win and a loss later and they are 8/11 (Boylesports) to beat Ireland at HQ. Like a shallow teenager, the bookmakers just want to hang around with the good-looking kids.

I agree England played well in Paris, but the French contributed to their own downfall and still came within a drop goal of victory. Ireland shouldn’t be underestimated either. They demolished Scotland last weekend and, but for lapses in concentration, they would have beaten both Wales and France.

Stuart Lancaster’s team is work in progress and with such a young squad you must expect inconsistencies in performance. The bookmakers have got carried away with their win against France and, just like in 2011, Ireland can bring them down to earth with a bump at 6/4 with Bet365.
