Autumn Internationals Preview

We examine whether the northern hemisphere sides can take any notable scalps during the autumn rugby internationals.

The autumn internationals provide the perfect opportunity for the home nations to test their credentials against the world’s best. South Africa, Australia and New Zealand will provide stiff opposition over the coming weeks.

Northern Hemisphere Record Since 2006

Looking back over the past six years, the northern hemisphere have won a measly 8 matches, a win rate of 17%, which equates to odds of 5/1 with Scotland having the best record of the home nations.

Southern Hemisphere Record Since 2006

Statistically Australia are the most vulnerable of the northern hemisphere sides but odds of 7/5 (William Hill) to beat England look generous. Considering Australia have won 70% of their matches and England only 18%, the Wallabies should be odds-on to win at Twickenham.

The Lions victory during the summer has emboldened the patriotic punter but in the coming weeks value might be with the southern hemisphere sides. World Champions New Zealand face Japan, France, England and Ireland in November and are 8/15 (Paddy Power) to win all four matches.
