York Tips: Time Test
Ran a big speed rating at Royal Ascot, which included a fast closing sectional. Capable of causing an upset.
If everyone stands their ground the Juddmonte International (3.40 York) should be a terrific race. Golden Horn heads the betting by virtue of his Derby and Eclipse wins, plus his unbeaten record but at the prices he can be taken on.
He’s had three tough races this season and momentarily looked in trouble at Sandown, although he did prevail by running a strong closing sectional.
Gleneagles is the least likely winner of the leading trio because he is untested at this trip, which leaves Time Test.
Roger Charlton’s colt has navigated the less fashionable route of handicaps but his performance in winning the Tercentenary Stakes was outstanding.
He ran the third fastest sectional at Royal Ascot, for horses racing at a mile or further on the round course and his already big speed rating gets a further upgrade.
He deserves to take his chance in Group 1 company and is underestimated by the layers because he hasn’t got a classic to his name.
