York Tips: Ballesteros
Finished best of the high drawn horses on his last start and has bundles of ability. Not beaten far in last year’s Group 1 Prix De L’Abbaye.
Ballesteros has always been a talented sprinter and looks a shrewd purchase by Dr Marwan Koukash.
The horse has been transferred to Richard Fahey and he is a master at getting the best out of his sprinters.
On his first start of the season he was very unlucky to finish 5th in a decent sprint at Newbury. The field split in two, with Ballesteros coming home best of the high drawn horses.
As a hold-up horse, he needs cover and something to lead him into the race. He should get that in a 20-runner field although Ian Brennan will need to switch him from a tricky draw in stall 1.
Proven on soft going, if the ground hasn’t dried out too much he should run a big race at 12/1 (BetVictor).
