Ran ok in the July Cup but at his best on a flat track over the minimum trip. Second behind Battaash at Royal Ascot, which is comfortably the best form on offer.
It’s a quick turnaround for Equilateral having run in the July Cup but if that race hasn’t left a mark then he should be favourite for this contest. He didn’t run badly at Newmarket but he’s best on a flat track over the minimum trip, rather than an undulating 6f.
He therefore has ideal conditions today and he should also have a strong pace to aim at, with several front-runners in the field. He was best of the rest, in a fast time, behind Battaash in the King’s Stand and that is the best form on offer. He has the highest ceiling of all the runners and it’s his run last week that gives us the price.
