York: Tarboosh

Stall 19 didn't work out last year, he beat those on the stand's side but the race developed up the centre. Pulled the same stall again but more pace around him this time.

Tarboosh carries top-weight in the 1.45 York but he was only beaten 2.25 lengths off a pound lower last year and was better than he margin of defeat. Drawn in stall 19 that day, he comfortably beat those who raced towards the stand’s side unfortunately the contest developed up the centre of the track and he couldn’t land a blow.

He is again drawn in stall 19 but crucially he has A Momentofmadness nearby. The Charlie Hills sprinter cut out the running last year and I see no reason why he won’t employ the same tactics. For added measure the front-running Jabbarockie is also drawn high and they should give Tarboosh a tow into the race.

Paul Midgley’s sprinter was only beaten 0.75 lengths by Moss Gill at York in July; he ran a big speed rating in defeat (102) and didn’t get a clear run up the rail. He is a capable of winning a big sprint off a high mark and any rain will only help further his cause.
