Yarmouth Tips: Franca Florio
Poorly drawn on seasonal return at Thirsk but made late headway. Drops down in grade having run well in better races.
Kevin Ryan’s yard have started to send runners out again after they were shut down by a case of equine herpes and although at the time of writing they are yet to have a winner, their horses have been running well.
Back fit and healthy, this could be a stable to watch in the coming weeks as horses leave previous below par efforts behind.
France Florio is one such horse, who was well beaten at Thirsk on her seasonal reappearance and hasn’t been seen since. Rated 73, connections were perhaps aiming too high in a class 3 handicap and after Joe Doyle took a pull from a wide draw, she was never put into the race.
Despite labouring in the early stages she finished strongly and gained three place in the final furlong. It’s not the first time she’s hinted at ability, she was beaten in a blanket finish at Chester last September again in class 3 company.
This afternoon she drops into the correct grade and is likely to be underestimated by the market.
