There was plenty to like about Across Dubai’s debut win, especially in light of the handicapper giving him an opening handicap mark of 84.

At Lingfield, he won by a length but was better than the bare margin. Tracking a steady pace, he covered the final 2f in a rapid 22.26s and despite the moderate gallop ran a fast overall time. Adjusting for pace, I gave him an adjusted speed rating of 94, far in excess of his mark.

The form of the race has been franked with five of the beaten horses subsequently winning. The time also stack up well; Across Dubai was faster over the first 5f and final 2f compared to the best splits in the first division of the maiden.
