Worship At The Abbey

Worship At The Abbey

Lexington Abbey finished fifth in last year’s Silver Cup and has improved with age.

Last season Pat Smullen rode Lexington Abbey to a fifth place finish in the Ayr Silver Cup and he is back again, this time aiming for Gold Cup glory.

With Smullen over from Ireland, and the horse returning from a 54-day absence a plan seems afoot. Kevin Ryan has won the race three times in the last ten years and with a valuable prize to aim for, I’m sure he’s plotted for this race.

As for the horse, he is an improving sprinter. His last two performances at Nottingham have been career bests and good speed ratings back up the overall form.

At his best closing off a strong pace, he will have the race run to suit and looks a good bet at 20/1.
