Wolverhampton: Valentine Blues
Still a maiden after 8 starts but shown promise and worth persevering with over 5f. Posted very wide tracking strong pace last time expect a change of tactics this time round.
Valentine Blue is one of the most lightly raced horse in the field for the 4.25 Wolverhampton and she has shown some ability, albeit at a very low level.
She has been ridden prominently over longer trips and therefore a switch to 5f always seemed a sensible option. Unfortunately, her first attempt at the trip didn’t go well. She was ridden from stall 11 to get a prominent position but the early pace was strong and she was posted 4 wide through most of the race. Considering the huge effort she exerted, she did well to finish fourth only beaten 6.5 lengths, as the closers dominated the finish.
She has another wide draw to contend with but I suspect Ben Curtis will ride sit patiently if she doesn’t get a prominent position, with the aim to save something for the finish.
