Wolverhampton Tips: Russian Soul
Undone by wide draw last time but fastest closer and best horse on day. Draw not great but better.
Twelve days ago, we backed Russian Soul over course and distance but our luck wasn’t in so we try again in the 4.25 Wolverhampton.
Stall 12 was always going to prove tricky and so it proved. Adam Kirby took a pull and settled the horse in rear, unfortunately this was the wrong place as they went a steady gallop early on. No fault can be apportioned to the jockey, in a big field with Bosham up front you’d have thought they go quicker.
Despite the pace against him, Russian Soul made good progress from rear, clocking a 22.56s sectional to finish 1.2 lengths behind the winner. It was the fastest sectional in the race by 0.18s and he was probably the best horse on the day.
The draw hasn’t been kind again but stall 8 is manageable. Well handicapped on his best form and with several good runs under his belt, he should go close.
