Wolverhampton Tips: Malaysian Boleh

Wolverhampton Tips: Malaysian Boleh

This field have been taking it in turns to race each other but a strong pace and movement in the weights favours Malaysian Boleh.

The 4.45 Wolverhampton is a fascinating little race because there is so much collateral form. From the early declarations, four horses down to run all ran on the same card at Wolverhampton on the 19 November.

The class 5, 7f sprint was split into two divisions but considering they were only run 30 minutes apart we can analyse their times as a whole.

Mr Christopher and Evening Attire ran the fastest times, both in winning efforts from the front. However, there isn’t much to split the foursome with only 0.25s covering the pack.

The picture gets muddied by the fact Capolavoro and Malaysian Boleh were beaten by the pace of the race.Bboth were ridden with restraint but covered the final 2f faster than the winners. In a more strongly run race you’d expect the placing to change.

Also in the mix is the change in ratings, Mr Christopher, Evening Attire and Capolavoro have all seen their handicap marks increase since the 19 November, whilst Malaysian Boleh has dropped a pound.

Lazy commentators might call this a race where they ‘take it in turns to beat each other’, which is true but ignoring the subtleties of pace and weight. In a stronger run race, with less weight relative to his rivals Malaysian Boleh is the standout bet because on the clock he has very little to find.
