Wolverhampton Tips: Hamoody

Course and distance record is 1114 and ran well in defeat on his penultimate start at Lingfield. Sectionals timings put him on a par with the winner that day.

We are spoilt for choice at Wolverhampton with four sprints to enjoy but the easiest puzzle to solve is the 2.50.

Fitz Flyer is favourite on the back of his win last time out but do you really want to be pilling in at a short price on a horse who has only won four times in 62 starts?

After the race, jockey Anna Hesketh said it was one of his ‘going days’ and that sums him up neatly.

Hamoody finished 3.75 lengths behind Fitz Flyer but his record of 14 wins in 72 starts makes him a stronger betting proposition.

Not only is he a more consistent horse, he can turn around the form thanks to a drop in trip.

Five furlongs should suit Hamoody better and he ran a fine race on his penultimate start at Lingfield. On sectional timings he can be marked up alongside the winner, having covered the final 2f quicker than anything in the field.

The reason why Hamoody lost was because of the draw. His wide starting position meant Oisin Murphy had to sit further off the pace than ideal and on a sharp track it proved decisive.

In four starts over course and distance, Hamoody has finished 1114 and he is a big price to add another victory to his tally.
