Wolverhampton Tips: Gilgamesh
Rapid improver who returned from a gelding operation to run a fast sectional and good overall time.
The 2.40 Wolverhampton houses several promising individuals but the best of the lot could be Gilgamesh.
Gelded over the winter, he returned to the track 15 days ago and was mightily impressive. Racing over course and distance, he was held-up off a solid gallop but quickened nicely under a hands and heels ride to put the race to bed.
His turn of foot was impressive, he was the fastest closer by 0.2s and earned an adjusted speed rating of 82. This afternoon he races off a mark of 83 but considering this is only his fourth start, he should be extremely well handicapped with only a normal amount of improvement.
On a strict form line through Tailor’s Row, he is closely matched with Vatican Hill but Gilgamesh was the more impressive on the clock. Although they ran similar overall times Gilgamesh ran a faster closing sectional by 0.5s
