Wolverhampton Tips: George Baker

Finished eighth last time but not beaten far and found his path blocked when looking to challenge.

George Baker the horse might be best remembered for winning under the George Baker/George Baker trainer/jockey combination but he’s not just a comedy project, he’s a useful performer at this level.

Last time out he finished eighth but was only beaten 3.75 lengths and was desperately unlucky in the process.

Racing in midfield, he was travelling well turning for home but his jockey couldn’t find a gap and he finished on the bridle.

His final sectional of 24.0s was comparable with the winner’s time and he would have gone close with a clear run.

It has been well over two years since his last victory but he’s down to a workable handicap mark and looks overpriced at 10/1 (Betfred)
