Wolverhampton Tips: Dandy Flame

Wolverhampton Tips: Dandy Flame

Lacks a little early pace but finishes his races strongly. Should relish a step up in trip.

Dandy Flame hasn’t been with William Haggas long and in three starts for his new trainer, he’s run two good races and one clunker.

The poor performance came at Newcastle but something might have gone wrong or he didn’t handle the track. Either way he confirmed his potential with a good run at Lingfield last time out.

Pat Cosgrave found himself in the wrong place in a steadily run race (106.4% finishing speed) but this was down to the horse, who seems to lack an immediate change of gear. It was a similar story three starts back at Lingfield when he was outpaced early on.

It therefore makes sense for connections to step him up to 7f because he finishes his races well. Last time out he was the fastest closer and again ran to a mark in the low 80s.

William Haggas should be able to unlock his ability and the key could be a step up in trip and a drop in grade.
