Wolverhampton Tips: Assisted

Wolverhampton Tips: Assisted

Showed promise at Lingfield and races off a lenient mark. Hasn’t fired for Keith Dalgleish yet but returns to the AW for first time in 8 months.

The 5.50 Wolverhampton is a moderate race on paper but there are a handful of 3-year-olds competing who still have some potential.

Assisted was sent off at huge prices when under the care of George Peckham last winter but he showed some ability when fourth in a fair maiden at Lingfield. He tracked a strong pace, earned an adjusted speed rating of 67 and hung in there well without ever threating the useful winner.

Keith Dalgliesh obviously saw enough to spend £3,000 on him and there is some confidence behind the horse because he’s been sent off at 5/2 and 10/3 on his last two starts.

Unfortunately, neither went particularly well but both runs were on turf, whereas this evening he returns to an artificial surface. That might spark the necessary improvement and Keith Dalgiesh warrants respect with his 16% strike-rate on the all-weather.
